Frequently Asked Questions about Our 17th Century Lineup:

To put it succinctly, anything with the 17th Century Style moniker indicates that some or all of the products within are smoked to some degree.

  • Did people in the 17th century smoke everything?

To a degree, yes! The main source of heat in those days was a wood fire. Any food requiring heat would, therefore, have an inherent smoky flavor to it. For example, coffee would be roasted over an open wood fire and hot chocolate would be melted in like manner.

Absolutely not. Our master roaster has not only been roasting coffee for over thirty years; he's a retired top-level chef with over thirty-five years of experience. Each product is meticulously crafted to ensure the smoky flavor is not too harsh, nor does your product end up burnt. Smoke is the handkerchief, not the whole suit.

  • Where can I learn more about the history behind your products?

Each product will have a brief 17th Century History section where we explain what was done in those days and how we've recreated it in a manner that excels the highest quality standard.

  • Can I customize how smoky I'd like something?

Sure! Use the Custom Orders page to submit a request. Let us know what product you're requesting and how smoky you'd like it. Please be as specific as possible, and note that a request for extra smoke will be subject to an additional charge.
